Silver Lake College Music Instructor Wins Award

Silver Lake College Handbell Instructor Sandra Eithun has beeSandy Eithunn selected as a recipient of the 2009-2010 ASCAPLUS Award- Concert Music Division Winner.  This award, given by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, is granted by an Independent Panel of Judges and is based upon the unique prestige value of each music writer’s catalog of original compositions. 

Ms. Eithun, an accomplished Handbell Composer, is a graduate of Silver Lake College with a Bachelor of Music degree with an emphasis in Kodaly, keyboard and flute. While attending Silver Lake she was the recipient of the Delta Mu Theta Scholarship and the Presidential Scholarship. She currently resides with her husband Scott and four children in New London, WI, where she has been serving in music ministry as the director of four handbell choirs, choral accompanist and organist/keyboardist at First Congregational United Church of Christ since 1992. She is an active member of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers and has served on the Area VII Board. In addition to having over one hundred pieces for handbells in publication, Sandra also has various sacred keyboard books in print and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at Silver Lake College.
