Tara Wachowski: Senior Exhibition

February 9, 2010

Silver Lake College, 2406 South Alverno Road, invites the public to attend the art exhibit, Tara Wachowski: Senior Exhibition. The exhibit, which features artworks Ms. Wachowski completed as a studio art major at Silver Lake College, will appear in the art hallway from February 19 – March 22, 2010.   A free public reception will be held on Monday, February 22, 3:00-4:30 p.m.

Ms. Wachowski says of her art, “One of my favorite childhood memories is playing the line game with my dad.  The line game was a collaborative art project which began with my dad drawing a simple line on a blank piece of paper.  I followed with a line, then dad, them me, until snarling three-headed creatures, cityscapes and voluptuous flower petals magically appeared on the page, molded together and transformed into something else.”  Her current art remains inspired by this process, “evolving organically, in layers and in great outbursts of energy.”  Her work also explores the complexities of the human experience and the relationship between man and the natural world.

During her time at the College, Ms. Wachowski was awarded the Merle Picket Endowed Art Scholarship and nominated for Who’s Who Among American College Students.  She is currently completing an internship at the Rahr West Art Museum and has created murals for a number of community businesses and residents.

Also on exhibit from February 19-March 22 is the Franciscan Values Exhibit which features student work investigating Franciscan values: reverence for creation, peacemaking, compassion and community.

Both exhibits are open to the public from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday: from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
